Bridging Cultures. Building Communities. Empowering Futures.
The Ethio American Foundation (EAF) was established to empower Ethiopian-American youth, women, and families across Minneapolis–Saint Paul and beyond. More than a nonprofit, we are a visionary movement driving lasting change and opportunity. We ignite potential, celebrate cultural pride, and uplift the next generation of leaders.
Since our registration in December 2024, EAF has worked to dismantle barriers and replace them with pathways to education, economic stability, wellness, and leadership. Our initiatives are culturally rooted, equity-driven, and community-powered—designed to create impact that lasts across generations.
Our Core Program Pillars
1. Cultural Preservation & Pride
We honor heritage as a source of strength. Through festivals, storytelling circles, and intergenerational workshops, we preserve Ethiopian culture while fostering unity and belonging.
2. Education & Youth Development
Education is the foundation of opportunity. We provide scholarships, mentorship, and academic resources to first-generation and under-resourced students, helping them thrive in college, vocational training, and future careers.
3. Economic Empowerment
Financial independence is key to generational progress. EAF delivers financial literacy training, job readiness workshops, and entrepreneurship support that equip youth and families—especially women—with tools to achieve stability and prosperity.
4. Community Advocacy & Legal Empowerment
We stand with immigrant families navigating complex systems. Our programs provide legal education, immigration support, and policy awareness, ensuring families can access their rights and build secure futures.
5. Health & Well-Being
Healthy families create strong communities. We connect families to culturally informed healthcare and mental health resources, addressing both physical and emotional well-being.
Our Impact Goals
EAF is committed to serving 500+ individuals and families annually across the Twin Cities, including youth, women, parents, and elders. We track our progress through measurable outcomes, such as:
- Growth in financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship skills
- Expanded leadership and economic opportunities for women
- Reduction in food insecurity through culturally relevant nutrition programs
- Scholarships awarded and first-generation students advancing in education and careers
- Stronger community bonds through cultural pride and civic engagement
Our Commitment to Equity
Equity is not an add-on—it is the foundation of everything we do. Our programs are co-created with the community, delivered in Amharic, Somali, Oromo, Tigrinya, and English, and shaped by continuous feedback. By centering diverse voices, we ensure our work reflects the realities and aspirations of those we serve.
